Once upon a time there were two high level systems engineers with over 50 years of combined IT experience. They were unsatisfied with the vending machines at their office because they didn't take contactless payments, and were frequently out of the items that they liked the most. They looked at vending machines as computers with refrigeration and wanted to utilize their IT expertise to provide a more efficient and reliable way to manage the machines while giving people the convenience of having several ways to pay for their snacks and drinks.
